Colin Mustful
FOUNDER AND EDITOR
Colin Mustful is the founder and editor of History Through Fiction, an independent press dedicated to publishing historical narratives rooted in factual events and compelling characters. A celebrated author and historian whose novel Reclaiming Mni Sota recently won the Midwest Book Award for Literary/Contemporary/Historical Fiction, Mustful is the author of five historical novels that delve into the complex eras of settler-colonialism and Native American displacement. Combining his interests in history and writing, Mustful holds a Master of Arts in history and a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing. Residing in Minneapolis, Minnesota, he enjoys running, playing soccer, and believes deeply in the power of understanding history to shape a just and sustainable future.

Robin Henry
ACQUISITIONS EDITOR / MANAGING EDITOR
Robin Henry is an Author Accelerator Certified Book Coach and holds an MLS (Library Science) and MA in Humanities. She is a librarian, adjunct professor of Humanities, independent scholar, and book coach who is also a definite fan of the Oxford comma. As a hot beverage enthusiast and total history nerd, she can’t wait to read your story!

Hi, I'm Melissa, the owner and founder of The Literary Assistant. My business specializes in providing social media and newsletter marketing services to authors. In addition to these services, I also run a Patreon community where I offer additional support and resources to fellow writers. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, which includes being a cat herder to our furry friends. I have a passion for history and love to lose myself in reading about it whenever I have the chance. A.M. Symes first and foremost loves a good story. She immerses herself in storytelling as a writer, editor, beta reader, and publisher. Symes earned an MFA in Fiction Writing and Publishing, and daylights as a communication specialist. Her skills and experience lie in story development, editing for publication, and wordsmithing to aid writers in producing the best possible version of their story.
Symes dabbles in publishing with her Dead Birds Writing Group, and occasionally volunteers as a judge for the Minnesota Book Awards and History Through Fiction Short Story judge. Her stories have appeared in multiple print publications and podcasts. -
Violet McCann
Podcast Sound Engineer
Violet McCann loves dinosaurs, and books that describe them accurately. A biology, geology, and English major at Macalester College, Violet aspires to be a scientist, writer, and scientific writer. In her free time, she’s a shoegaze musician and museum enthusiast. Violet a former HTF intern who is over the moon to be to use her skills and talents to edit the audio for the History Through Fiction podcast.

Grace E. Turton is an aspiring historical consultant with an MA in Social History and BA in History & Media from Leeds Beckett University. Grace specialises in British and Italian history but loves reading and researching about all aspects of history. In her free time, you can find her exploring the Yorkshire Dales with her dog Bear, watching classic films and playing rugby league. Kennedy Cole
Kennedy Cole is a queer, Black writer at the University of North Carolina Wilmington pursuing a BFA in creative writing and a Certificate in Publishing. She works as the Managing Editor of Atlantis: A Creative Magazine, and has writing published in Second Story Journal, Oakland Arts Review, and Carolina Muse. Her writing explores her identity through a character-rich, speculative lens; she uses her voice to ask difficult questions without claiming to know the answers herself. Outside of her work, Kennedy often bangs her head to heavy metal, critiques horror films from the comfort of her couch, or mashes buttons with friends on her Nintendo Switch.
