Meet Your Instructors

Colin Mustful is the founder of History Through Fiction. As a traditional publisher, he works with authors who want to share important historical stories with the world. He is also an indie author who writes about the tumultuous and complex periods of settler-colonialism and Native displacement in American history. He has an MA in history and an MFA in creative writing. He believes that learning history is vital to understanding our world today and finding just, long-lasting solutions for the future.

Melissa Makarewicz believes books can transform lives and communities. As the founder of The Literary Assistant, she connects authors with readers, promoting literacy and community through initiatives like The Austen Pathway and the Jane Austen Literacy Foundation. Melissa's mission is to ensure books reach those who need them, fostering spaces where book lovers unite. Her commitment includes donating a book to a local women's shelter for every $5 subscription upgrade to her Substack.
