2021: Our Year in Review

The end of the year is always a good time to reflect. For History Through Fiction, 2021 marks just our second full year of operation. But, despite our youth and the continued challenges and uncertainty of the worldwide pandemic, we’re amazed by the accomplishments of our press and authors. We may be small, but we’re growing, and we’re doing big things! Please take a moment to reflect with us on the year that was.

The Sky Worshipers, the third title by HTF, was released on March 2, 2021.

January
After its Kindle release, The Sky Worshipers by F.M. Deemyad reached #1 on Amazon in the category of Military Historical Fiction.

HTF founder and editor Colin Mustful was on Instagram Live with Oanh Jordan of Tiny Triumph Co.

March
On March 2, we celebrated the official release of F.M. Deemyad’s The Sky Worshipers: A Novel of Mongol Conquests.

On March 3 – 7 we were virtual exhibitors at the annual AWP Conference and Bookfair.

May
HTF launched a TikTok account! We’ve been connecting with a new audience and making fun videos ever since.

June
On June 2, we hosted the live cover reveal for Ron Blumenfeld’s novel, The King’s Anatomist: The Journey of Andreas Vesalius.

On June 21 – 27 we participated in the Historical Novel Society North American All-Virtual Conference.

July
We launched our Pinterest Account!

August
On August 1, HTF re-opened for submissions strictly for writers-of-color.

September
On September 13, we launched Season 2 of our podcast with an episode featuring Sarah Penner, author of The Lost Apothecary.

October
On October 12, we celebrated the release of Ron Blumenfeld’s novel The King’s Anatomist: The Journey of Andreas Vesalius.

Shortly after its release, The King’s Anatomist reached #1 on Amazon in the categories of Renaissance Historical Fiction and Medical History.

During the month of October, HTF attended The Deep Valley Book Festival in Mankato, Minnesota, The Twin Cities Book Festival in St. Paul, Minnesota, and the Connecticut Literary Festival in Hartford, Connecticut.

November
On November 17, HTF launched What’s New in Historical Fiction, a virtual panel series featuring historical authors with new and upcoming titles. Details about our next panel are coming soon!

December
