The Sky Worshipers by F.M. Deemyad is a newly released historical novel about Genghis Khan and the Mongol Empire. The story is uniquely told through the eyes of three princesses taken captive by the Mongols. After being conquered by the Mongols and taken to live as wives to the Mongol Khans, the three princesses, Chaka, Reyhan, and Krisztina, share a secret manuscript. In the manuscript they record their experiences for future generations to discover. As prisoners to the Mongols, the princesses also share deep sense of compassion for the people and lands that are violently overthrown by the Mongol warriors. In this audio excerpt, Reyhan, granddaughter of the last Seljuk King, imagines the lives of a Persian family when the Mongol warriors descend upon their home.
