History Through Fiction, an independent press in Minnesota, is proud to announce that they have become a Book Industry Member of the Midwest Independent Booksellers Association.

Founded in 1981, the Midwest Independent Booksellers Association (MIBA) is a nonprofit trade association that supports and celebrates locally-owned and operated independent bookstores and booksellers throughout a 9+ state portion of the Midwest (Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Michigan's Upper Peninsula). MIBA envisions a Midwest filled with a diverse array of thriving independent bookstores and works to achieve that vision by creating learning and career-building opportunities, fostering a vital and supportive bookselling community, and advocating for the essential value independent bookstores bring to society. Among its various programs, MIBA is well-known for its Midwest Indie Bookstore Roadmap, a creative and colorful map of more than 200 bookstores throughout the region.

As a Book Industry Member, History Through Fiction supports MIBA’s vision and mission while seeking to connect with local and regional booksellers and publishers. Benefits of membership include being listed in their public industry member gallery, free up-to-date bookseller ARC info, free listings in their event calendar, a current list of member bookstore owners, and more. Membership also includes valuable access to promotional resources such as their Midwest Title Alert, Classic Feature in their weekly e-newsletter, and winter catalog ads. Finally, MIBA hosts an annual Heartland Fall Forum, the premiere gathering place for those doing business with independent booksellers throughout the Midwest. This year’s forum will be held in St. Louis, Missouri, October 12–14.
