Cover Reveal! A Noble Cunning by Patricia Bernstein

History Through Fiction is proud to reveal the cover design for our upcoming release,
A Noble Cunning: The Countess and the Tower by Patricia Bernstein.

A Noble Cunning is a “sumptuously detailed historical novel” based on the true story of Winifred Maxwell, a persecuted Catholic noblewoman who, with the help of a group of devoted women friends, is determined to try every possible means of saving her husband from the Tower of London the night before he is to be executed. In this thrilling tale set amid the turbulence of the 1715 Rebellion against England’s first German king George I, author Patrica Bernstein has revealed a largely unknown history of a remarkable woman’s strength, love, and courage against formidable odds. The novel is set for release on March 7, 2023, from History Through Fiction, an independent publisher of historical fiction. The cover was designed by Christine Horner of The Book Cover Whisperer, a graphic designer, writer, and publisher, who has been designing and formatting books for independent authors and publishers for more than six years.

Bernstein, who is the fifth author signed by History Through Fiction, is a writer, historian, and publicist based in Houston. She earned a Degree of Distinction in American Studies from Smith College and, returning to Texas, founded a public relations agency in Houston, while publishing dozens of articles in publications as varied as Texas Monthly, Cosmopolitan and The Smithsonian. She has written three nonfiction titles including her most recent, Ten Dollars to Hate: The Texas Man Who Fought the Klan about the millions-strong 1920s Ku Klux Klan. The book was a finalist for the Ramirez Family Award from the Texas Institute of Letters and was named one of the 53 best books ever written about Texas by the Austin American Statesman. Patricia lives in Houston with her husband Alan Bernstein. They have three wonderful and very different daughters. A Noble Cunning is her debut novel, inspired by a story she heard during a visit to Scotland in 2014.
