History Through Fiction is proud to release the book cover image of our upcoming title, The Education of Delhomme: Chopin, Sand, and La France. Written by Nancy Burkhalter, the first author to sign with History Through Fiction, this historically detailed novel reimagines the life and times of famed pianist and composer Frédéric Chopin. Set in backdrop of the 1848 French Revolutions, Beaulieu Delhomme, the fictional tuner, works for Chopin while getting caught up in an ever-complicated spy ring that tests Delhomme’s loyalties and threatens his life and family. Also featured in this compelling, well-developed narrative are numerous historical figures, including the notable French novelist George Sand and the world’s first detective and spymaster, Eugene-François Vidocq.

The cover design comes from Ryan Scheife of Mayfly Design in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This is the second cover design that Mayfly has done for History Through Fiction, the first being the press’ inaugural title, Resisting Removal: The Sandy Lake Tragedy of 1850. Mayfly will also be designing the interior layout for The Education of Delhomme. The official release date for the upcoming title is November 17, 2020.

In addition to a compelling narrative, The Education of Delhomme also includes several traditional nonfiction elements such as an annotated list of recommended resources and historically accurate character biographies. These elements are a reflection of the author’s expertise and comprehensive research, and the publisher’s ambition to make history accessible to everyone—even through fiction. By including nonfiction elements in fictional novels, readers are able to distinguish fact from fiction while they are also provided the resources necessary to learn more about the historical events and people.
